The annual Kupalle celebration took place in the beautiful gardens of the museum, bringing together the Belarusian community and their friends for an evening of tradition, music and fun. More than 100 people gathered for the celebration.
The main festivities started from 4 pm to around 7 pm at 37 Holden Road and featured a variety of cultural activities. Guests enjoyed making flower crowns, decorating the Kupalle wheel and taking part in traditional games and songs, including the iconic Kupalinka, performed by the Vir singing group. A particular highlight was the symbolic jumping over the fire, a cherished Kupalle tradition.
Later in the evening, the celebration moved to the nearby Dollis Brook, where participants floated their flower crowns on the water — a magical moment.

There was also a book stall showcasing Belarusian publications, many visitors were traditional Belarusian costumes.
The vibrant choir, live music, dancing and traditional games created a lively atmosphere, while the quiet, intimate moments around the fire after the crowning ceremony offered a special kind of happiness, particularly appealing to introverts.
The Kupalle event is a beautiful testament to Belarusian culture, community and heritage in London, lovingly organised by the Library, the Belarussian Catholic Mission and the Anglo-Belarusian society.
